Welcome to Acorn Books

UP and RUNNING

(The Transition Period is Over)

Welcome to the home page of Acorn Books in MI. I closed the storefront at 15 Mile & Ryan in Sterling Heights in August, 2006. Now, I just deal on-line and by appointment. I still buy books selectively and will come out to your house if you live in the Detroit area and I'm interested in your books. At this point, I mainly look for collections (many books on a narrow subject), collectible books and antiquarian books. I'm also interested in collections of paper (ephemera, pamphlets, old catalogs, programs, menus, select magazines, older newspapers, etc.).

A TIME OF TRANSITION

(April, 2006)

While I'm going to continue to be a book dealer (on-line, shows, by appointment), I've decided to close the shop after fifteen years. My last day will be Saturday, August 12. I want to thank all of our longtime customers for their years of patronage.

I'm looking forward to dealing online and by appointment because the schedule will be much more flexible and I'll be able to concentrate more on rare books --but I will definitely miss my regular customers --many, who I have been seeing regularly in the shop for well over a decade.

RECENT ACQUISITIONS

Recently Cataloged Books

I am currently working on cataloging several collections along with many individual volumes:

-several shelves of Michigan history --almost all are ex-library, but there are many scarce titles in the collection.

-I have three shelves of Transportation History and Technology --about a shelf are better automotive books and there is also more than a shelf of books just on Trucking.

-I recently picked up a small collection of French books on advertising art.

-As always, I have a few recent Advance Copies. Advance Reading Copies (ARC's) are sent out to book reviewers prior to printing the first edition of the book; therefore, we always advertised them in the shop as, "Firster than a First Edition." You'll find these mainly in the fiction catalogs.
