First U.S. Edition . Binding is Hardcover with DJ . 7 7/8" x 5", 261 pages. Bound in blue cloth. CONDITION: Very Good (Fine is our highest grade, then Very Good) condition book in a dust jacket that is has its price cut off the front flap, but is otherwise in Near Very Good condition. The jacket has a 1/2" closed tear to the front panel and another 1/2" closed tear to the back panel. The jacket also has edge wear --especially at the top and bottom of the spine portion of the jacket. Due to the presence of a dust jacket, the binding is exceptionally bright. Tight and intact. "Robert Speaight (1904 – 1976) was a British actor and writer, and the brother of George Speaight the puppeteer. He was an early performer (from 1927) in radio plays. He came to prominence as Becket in the first production of T. S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral. He went on to Shakespearean roles, and to direct. He also wrote criticism and essays, works on the theatre and biography. He was a Roman Catholic convert, and biographer of Hilaire Belloc and Eric Gill. In the case of Gill, a personal friend, he suppressed material about Gill's sexual interests, which would only come out in the 1989 biography by Fiona MacCarthy." --per the wikipedia.
